Calendar

View and manage all your farm events, appointments, and auto-generated reminders in one calendar.

The HorseBook calendar brings together everything happening on your farm — scheduled appointments, shows, training sessions, and auto-generated reminders from document expirations and medical due dates.

Calendar Views

Month View

The default view showing the full month. Events appear as colored dots or labels on each day. Click a day to see all events for that date.

Week View

A more detailed view showing each day of the week with events laid out by time. Useful for busy weeks when you need to see how your schedule fits together.

Event Types

HorseBook supports ten event types, each with a distinct color:

Manual Events

  • Appointment — general appointments (vet visits, inspections, etc.)
  • Training — riding lessons, training sessions, clinics
  • Show — horse shows, competitions, and events
  • Farrier — scheduled farrier visits
  • Vet — scheduled veterinary appointments
  • Custom — anything else you want to track

Auto-Generated Events

These events are created automatically based on your records:

  • Medical Expiration — generated when a vaccine, Coggins, or deworming is approaching expiration
  • Document Expiration — generated when a Coggins certificate, health certificate, or insurance policy is nearing its expiration date
  • Breeding Booking — scheduled breeding dates from the reproduction module
  • Foaling Window — expected foaling range for pregnant mares (320-350 days from breeding)
  • Pregnancy Check — scheduled pregnancy check dates

Creating an Event

  1. Go to the Calendar section
  2. Click Add Event or click on a date
  3. Fill in the event details:
    • Title — what the event is
    • Type — select from the event types above
    • Date and Time — when it happens (or toggle all-day)
    • Horse — which horse this is for (optional for farm-level events)
    • Location — where it takes place
    • Description — additional details
    • Color — customize the event color (defaults to the type color)
    • Reminder — how many days before the event to be reminded
  4. Save the event

Filtering

Use the filters at the top of the calendar to narrow what's shown:

  • Horse filter — show events for a specific horse or all horses
  • Type filter — show only certain event types (e.g., just vet and farrier appointments)

Recurring Events

Events can be set to repeat on a schedule:

  • Daily — every day
  • Weekly — same day each week
  • Monthly — same date each month
  • Yearly — same date each year

Edit or delete a single occurrence or the entire series.

Tip

Use the horse filter to get a quick view of everything coming up for one specific horse — farrier visits, vet appointments, shows, and any document expirations.
